On Aug. 21, 2017, the last total solar eclipse visible from North America occurred. That same day we brought in the very first fruit from the Richaven Pinot Noir Vineyard at Merry’s home and crafted a sparkling wine called Cuvée Eclipse. To align the release of the wine with the future total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, we aged the wine for six years on the lees. Cuvée Eclipse features fine streams of tiny bubbles that showcase notes of ripe Gravenstein apple, lemon zest, hazelnut, marzipan and candied ginger. The entry is bright, crisp and balanced, alive with tart apple, brioche and toasty almond. A smooth, creamy palate is lifted on the finish.
